Sparkling wine can be enjoyed all year round. But only once a year is German Sparkling Wine Day: on May 11, 2024, the German sparkling wine cellars bring sparkling wine to life in a variety of ways. With (online) tastings, winery tours, live dégorgements and much more, you can experience sparkling wine with all your senses. German Sparkling Wine Day is a holiday for everyone who loves sparkling wine and appreciates its class and diversity. Be it at home, in restaurants, in shops or, best of all, on site in one of the many German sparkling wine cellars. True to the motto: IT'S ALL ABOUT SEKT, everything revolves around the success story of this popular drink.
At Rotkäppchen-Mumm, we also celebrate Sparkling Wine Day with many events. At our locations in Freyburg, Eltville and Breisach, we want to bring sparkling wine to life in a variety of ways and cordially invite you to join us!
PROGRAM IN ELTVILLE
At our location in Eltville, we will be opening the garden grounds of Villa Mumm in Josef-Hölzer-Straße exclusively on both Saturday and Sunday. The event starts at 11 am and ends at 6 pm.
Lounge areas and deckchairs invite you to linger and enjoy the whole weekend. At the center of the festivities are the sparkling wines from Mumm and Godefroy von Mumm, which have their home here in Eltville. Non-alcoholic enjoyment is also provided.
You can expect the following highlights, among others:
- Food stands from "Rock'n'Roll Streetfood" as well as vintner pizza and Rheingau soul food from "Winzza" chef Daniel
- Godefroy from Mumm cork throwing with a great prize for our Ludwig von Kapff wine warehouse
- Musical accompaniment by the mobile sparkling wine day band "Akustik AG"
- The Ludwig von Kapff wine store is open both on Saturdays and exclusively on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Exclusively in Eltville: training by the Rotkäppchen-Mumm Academy
On the occasion of Sparkling Wine Day, our Rotkäppchen-Mumm Academy invites you to the sparkling wine experience seminar "It's all about sparkling wine" on Saturday, May 11, from 1 pm to 2 pm and from 3 pm to 4 pm. In the inspiring atmosphere of Villa Mumm, speaker Kerstin Bernardi will give you exclusive insights into the world of sparkling wine. In just one hour, you will learn the most important facts about the production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic sparkling wine. In addition, our lecturer will show you how to properly taste and then evaluate a wine or sparkling wine. The courses at the special price of 15 euros must be booked in advance. PROGRAM IN FREYBURG
At our location in Freyburg (Unstrut), the Rotkäppchen Erlebniswelt celebrates its first birthday on Sparkling Wine Day and invites you to a varied program on Saturday, 11 May. The event starts at 10 am and ends at around 10 pm. During the day, the walking band "combocombo" will provide the atmosphere, while from 6 p.m. the Leipzig DJ duo "the real modus" will invite you to dance to electro and house sounds. Magician Stefan Gärtner will be enchanting young and old from 12-5pm.
Throughout the day (10 a.m. - 8 p.m.), visitors can book their own adventure tours in the Little Red Riding Hood Adventure World. At 11:30 am and 4 pm there is a public adventure tour with sparkling wine tasting, at 2 pm an adventure tour with sabrage.
From 10 a.m. there will be a small champagne breakfast, and Chameleon Foodservice will provide further refreshments with hearty dishes and sugar toast.
Special highlight: A shuttle will be provided for all visitors from the greater Leipzig area under the motto "Dance trip to Freyburg". The outward journey is at 1 pm from Leipzig main station (east side, bus platform S), return journey at 10 pm. The price of 15 euros includes two glasses of sparkling wine at the Rotkäppchen Bar. PROGRAMM IN BREISACH
The Geldermann private sparkling wine cellar in Breisach am Rhein, located on the Schlossberg, invites you to a varied program on the evening before Sparkling Wine Day, Friday, 10 May: The event starts at 5 pm and is scheduled to end at 11 pm. Enjoy the characterful cuvées and cocktails with matching dishes and be entertained by live music from "Duo Acoustic Delight". There will also be a competition about Geldermann sparkling wine and its history with attractive prizes, as well as free guided tours of the historic vaulted cellars below the Münsterberg. As a further highlight, you can experience a guided tour with sabrage for the special price of 10 euros. The Geldermann Boutique is open from 10 am to 11 pm.

To mark Sparkling Wine Day, there are great promotions and offers in our Ludwig von Kapff retail stores, including great discounts on selected sparkling wines. The following program is available in the eleven stores:
